Museums in Moscow join the initiative of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in celebrating the International Museum Day, and therefore this weekend (19-20th of May) everyone is invited to participate in "Night at Museum" event with about 400 performances throughout Moscow. These include exhibitions, excursions, performances, concerts and parties in courtyards of museums. All of them are free of charge. Most events start at 6pm (check the schedule) and last till 23pm or even 1am.
Some of the events are as follows:
MMOMA (Moscow Museum of Modern Art) at Petrovka st., 25. As part of a project "General rehearsal" there will be an artist's performance: press-conference by the artist Shifra Kazhdan at 8pm on the 19th of May where the main cgaracter will be a photo of Anna Akhmatova by Vladislav Mamyshev-Monro. This photo will be answering questions of journalists and common visitors.
At 9pm there will be performance at the courtyard of the museum by Autarkic - musician from Israel (electromusic).
The Museum of Moscow at Zubovskiy boulevard, 2. On the 19th of May from 6pm till 11pm you can take part in free of charge excursions around exhibitions of the museum (for example, at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 9:30pm - excursion "History of Moscow" for children and adults, at 8pm - excursion to the photo exhibition "Industrial Moscow" with photographer Viktor Boyko, etc.).
Besides, there will be different events in the courtyard of the museum starting from 11am. For example, Local food market will be working for a whole day in the courtyard of the museum. At 6pm there will be a classical music event performed by the Symphony Orchestra and Academic Choir of the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnesins - "Bells" by Rachmaninov. Starting from 7:40pm and till 1am - DJ sets.
Government of Moscow will organize free shuttle bus on the 19th of May between 6 main places of the "Night at Museum": 1) The Darwin Museum 2) Bulgakov's House-Museum 3) Planetarium 4) Multimedia Art Museum 5) Tretyakov Gallery on the Krymskiy Val 6) Space Museum.
